HyperSpace Tutorial:
In this tutoiral i will show you how to make an intresting
hyperspaceish background. I will be using Photoshop CS2 for it, but most
previous versions should be able to repeat the same task.
1)
To start off open up photoshop if you havent
already and create a new 1024x1024 rbg color document.
2)
Next set your forground and background colors to black if you
havent already and apply the clouds filter (Filter>Render>Clouds).
3)
Now Use the chrome filter (Filter>Sketch>Chrome) with full deital
and smoothnes. Then open the Hue/Saturation window (ctrl+u) and set
the Hue to 190 and the Saturation to 100 and click ok.
4)
Now were going to do some lighting effects this can be kinda tricky
so pay close attention. First off go to the
lighting effects filter (Filter>Render>Lighting effects) then set the light type to omni.
With the omni light move it to the top left hand corner and chage its color
to a purpleish pink i used the color (ff00f0). Add another light and
put it int the bottom right hand corrner and set its intensity to 50.
5)
After that Apply the Radial Blur Filter (Filter>Blur>Radial Blur) with the following propertys:
Amount=50
Blur Method=Zoom
Quality=Best
6)
Next play around with the Hue till you find a good color. I used a hue of -174.
7)
Now use the platic Wrap Filter with the following propertys:
Highlight Strenght=6
Detail=1
Smoothness=15
8)
Almost there. Just change the levels a bit (ctrl+l) by moving the gray bar to the left to about 0.45.
9)
Finaly use a gaussian blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) with a strength of 0.5 and you done!
10)
And heres the final outcome. I added some text too.
Conclusion) This effect can be very effective for attractive backrounds and is very variable. Here are some Variations ive made.
